Beak Sing

Hello!  Kelly here sharing a card using Hello Bluebird Stamps and Chibitronics.  We have herons in the lakes in our neighborhood, they are magnificent birds.  They are often standing on the shore watching for fish to eat.  I have only ever heard them squawk I’m not sure if they ever sing but I thought this made a fun card.

I stamped the bird and leaves on bristol paper than masked the leaves using liquid frisket.  I sponged on distress ink using a blending tool.

I drew on some stars using a gel pen.  The music notes are heat embossed stamped images.  I stamped the bird on copic friendly cardstock (I used Neenah Solar White) and colored with Copic markers.  I fussy cut the bird and adhered it over the stamped bird on the background.  This way I don’t have to worry about masking the bird and didn’t need to cut out the legs.  I used a craft pick to poke holes in the center of the stars for the lights to shine through.  I put this on top of a piece of scrap card stock and marked through the holes where to place the LED’s.

When the recipient pulls the tab the circuit is completed and the stars light up.  Eiko has a fantastic tutorial on how to build a pull tab circuit here.  I doubled up the copper tape to ensure I had a good connection.  I built the circuit stuck on the light LED stickers then put another layer of copper tape over top of the circuit.  I also used scotch tape to help hold the battery in place.

I used a double layer of foam tape to adhere the card front over the circuit.  I finished it off with a frame diecut from yellow cardstock.  I also added some details with glossy Nuvo drops over the birds eye and some white Nuvo drops in the sky.

Thank you for stopping by, I enjoyed sharing this card with you.
