Hello everyone! This is Tiffany and I am here on the Chibitronics blog with a simple japan inspired interactive card featuring a moon that lights up. I will also show you how to create a simple battery slot using white post-it tape and a small circle die.
I first created all the panels and decorative elements for my card by trimming a navy and white card stock to the size of my A2 card base (5.5 4.25). Created my pattern background by blending Distress Oxide Inks (Picked Raspberry, Tattered Rose, Bundles Sage, Worn Lipstick Abandoned Coral) over the Hero Arts Large Lotus Pattern Stencil taped to my Navy card stock and then die cut a large arch window from it. Trace the arch window over my white card stock and ink blended my night sky using Black Soot, Seedless Preserve, and Faded Jean Distress Oxide Inks and then die cut a circle out for my moon. Trace the position of both the moon and my arch window onto my card base.Last I stamp, color, and cut out the cherry blossom from Mama Elephant and the temple gate from Hero Arts.
To create my LED light circuit I first used a small circle die to cut out my slot for the battery and then draw in my LED light circuit path. The LED sticker will be placed in the middle of the moon and both the negative and positive path will lead from the LED sticker to the hole I cut out. I placed a piece of post it tape (sized bigger than the hole) over the battery hole in the inside of my card base so the sticky size will face the front of the card.
The crystal drops on the LED stickers created a slightly diffuse light source for my moon. Once the crystal drop is dried I open my card and carefully peel the bottom part of the post-it tape and put my battery into place.
To complete the final assembly for my card I placed double layers of foam tape around my card base and tape my moon panel down. Then placed my navy arch panel on top of that. Last I added my decorative elements and glue down my sentiment.
