On point blinking sign

There’s nothing that catches your eye better than something blinking. That’s one of the reasons I really love the effect stickers by Chibitronics. I used some cacti stamps by Concord&9th that is super cute and there’s a sign in the set that I cut out and backed with vellum to create the blinking sign.

The card is not very hard to make. I cut out two panels the same size and stamped and colored the card front on one. To cut out the sign I used a craft knife. I put both panels on top of each other and traced where to put the light and the battery. I’m using a push switch for this card.  I stamped and embossed the text for the sign on a piece of vellum and attached on the back of the front panel.

Here’s the circuit. I used a piece of washi tape to build a bridge since I managed to attach the sticker the wrong way and you never want the copper tape to cross each other. I used some fabric stickers to make sure the connection holds through the mail. I’m pretty sure that I’m overly cautious, but I love those fabric stickers. They really attach to all the nooks and crannies and stick so well since they are a bit elastic.

I used some black cardstock to cover the circuit. The vellum is pretty transparent and you don’t want to see the tape and light under it. I just punched a hole for the light.

Here’s a video of the card blinking, isn’t fun? And you don’t really need an actual sign stamp for this, just draw a square the right size for your sentiment and you can light it up like this.
