Under the Sea

Hello!  I’m here today to share how I made this under water scene light up shaker card.  I started out by stamping the mermaid on smooth bristol paper.  I then used masking fluid to mask the mermaid off.

While the masking fluid was drying I made the frame for the shaker.  I diecut several circles from white card stock and glued them together.  For the window I stamped images on a circle diecut piece of acetate using Stazon ink.

Once the masking fluid was dry on the mermaid image I added three shades of blue by using the smooshing technique.  I smooshed one shade of blue on my craft mat spritzed it with water then smooshed the mermaid piece into the ink.  I did this with each shade of blue drying with my heat tool in between adding colors until I was happy with how it looked.  When the ink was dry I used an adhesive eraser to remove the masking fluid and colored the little mermaid with Zig Real Brush Pens.  I adhered three iridescent hearts around the mermaid and used iridescent sequins in my shaker.  I stamped a piece of cardstock with the sentiment and stamps from Heffy Doodle to indicate where to press on the card.  I then adhered the shaker to the card.  I built the Chibitronic circuit on a separate paper.

I used an Effects Sticker on this card so the light fades on and off. I used this tutorial to help me build my circuit using an Effects Sticker My Effects Sticker was a bit damaged as I thought about using it on another card and changed my mind, when I removed it the paper stuck to the adhesive to the back which blocked the circuit from connecting.  To solve this I made a circuit with my copper tape, stuck on the LED lights then applied a second layer of copper tape over the first circuit.  This made the circuit even stronger.

I then adhered the circuit to a card base and the card front on top of the circuit.
