If you are interested in learning some easy techniques for integrating light into simple pop-up mechanisms, Jill Dawson (and special guest Aubrey Garrison, a 7th-8th grade humanities teacher) will be hosting a chat on 21 September 2024, from 1-2 pm EST. We’re sharing a link to free downloadable templates in advance, in case you’d like to create something with us!
Meet our Hosts!
Rana Alo
Hi, my name is Rana and I live in Germany. I’m 31 years old, a wife, and Mom for a sweet boy. I’m a civil engineer and illustrator. My cardmaking journey started 4 years ago when I wanted to create some cards to give them to our friends when my son was born. Since then I started to search and learn more about cardmaking and I discovered the interactive cards and the lights up cards and I started to combine them to create some special cards that can make everyone’s day better. l always love to try new things and new techniques on my handmade projects and I like to introduce my engineering skills into it. My favourite part is sharing my ideas with people and inspiring them.
Hi! I’m Kathy and my passion is creating STEAM learning activities for kids and teens using crafts materials and household supplies! I’ve written over a dozen books including Paper Inventions, BOTS, and Making Simple Robots that introduce electronics basics with light-up origami and other fun projects. I firmly believe in the intersection of art and engineering, and love helping techy kids get crafty (and vice versa). When not teaching, writing, or checking out social media for new project ideas, I can be found hiking, biking, and kayaking along the Hudson River in upstate NY. I’m the proud mom of a video game developer and a filmmaker.
Hi! My name is Allison Cope. My little family of three live in Southern Alberta, Canada. I have been a crafter for the past 17 years. My favorite medium is Copic Markers and I love making interactive cards. I can’t wait to share my creations with you!
My name is Jill and I am an educator, artist, and maker who lives in Vermont (with my husband of 28 years). While I’m no longer a classroom teacher, I remain passionate about learning and sharing ideas with others. A firm believer in the power of experimentation and play, I am drawn to paper and electronics. One of my favorite things to do is figure out ways to add light to handmade book structures, pop ups, and mechanical cards. I also enjoy traveling, eating maple ice cream with my daughter, and taking walks in the woods.
Hi, My name is Melissa and I live in the Blue Mountains, Australia with my supportive Husband and 2 boys. I started card making in the early 1990’s and love to colour with Copic Markers. I am excited to be on the Design Team and hope to inspire you with my fun and interactive cards using Chibitronics Products.
Hello Play! is the collective effort of friends and colleagues Mariana, Andrea, and Celeste to spark curiosity, play, and creativity for learners of all ages. Together, we bring together our multidisciplinary experiences in design, STEAM, and education to create projects and experiences that are equal parts joyful and educational.
Hello! My name is Laura, I’m from Argentina but I’ve been living in Spain for 21 years, very near to Barcelona. Since I was little I have always liked stationery and crafts, but it was in 2017 when I started this hobby professionally. I am a teacher in the mornings and a crafter in the afternoons, I love creating cards and you will see that I use a lot of color in all of them! I am fascinated by interactive cards, whether they are shakers, sliders or lights, and when I discovered Chibitronics I couldn’t resist! I really like to share my projects on social networks and that you can find inspiration. I can’t wait to show you my projects with Chibitronics!
Hi, I’m Jess from All the Sparkle! I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with my incredibly supportive husband, three sassy cats, and a goofy sheltie! I discovered Chibitronics in 2015 and fell head over heels! I love interactive cards and adding a light-up element is just the perfect way to create something truly special for a loved one! I am honored to work for several amazing paper-crafting companies and enjoy incorporating Chibitronics products with their designs! I look forward to sharing lots of interactive card ideas with you!
