How to make light up Halloween tag.

Hi crafty friends!

This is Eiko. I make light up Halloween tag with an envelope type battery holder using Chibitronics and Tim Holtz dies.

This Halloween tag has an envelope battery holder, so you can easily replace the battery. I use the new animating LED, so the Jack-o-lanterns fade to rainbow colors when you switch it on.

I will make the parts referring to the picture below.

  • Cut two pieces of backdrops paper into a 3 1/4 x 6 1/4 inch tag shape.
  • Cut white cardsrock into a 3 1/4 x 6 1/4 inch tag shape.
  • Die cut kraft cardstock and metallic cardstock using Graveyard colorize dies, Halloween night dies, moon, clouds, bats and tree dies.
  • Color the die cut parts using black soot distress ink.
  • Two small pieces of vellum paper.
  • Cut the backdrops paper into the shape of an envelope battery holder. (template is here)
  • Crossbones and sentiment adornments.
  • About 8 inches long cloth ribbon.
  • Assemble the cover tag.
  • Put the die cut parts on the backdrops paper tag and make holes on the Jack-o-lantern eye parts.
  • Put the cover tag on white tag and mark the holes with a pencil.
  • Make a slit by refferring to the picture.
  • Draw the circuit with a pencil.
  • I colored the positive side red and the negative side blue.
  • Stick the conductive fabric tape on the pre-drawn path.
  • At the slit leave the fabric tape about 3 inches and cut it.

Pass the two fabric tapes through the slits and put them out on the back side.

Make the switch

Cut the backdrops paper into the shape of an envelope battery holder. (template is here)

Make an envelope battery holder by referring to here. To turn the battery holder on, tuck the top flat between the outside band and the positive lead. To turn the battery holder off, tuck the top flat between the positive lead and the battery.

  • Attach the rainbow fade animating LEDs to the fabric tape, over the outline.
  • Stick short fabric tape on the edges of the LED to reinforce.

When you turn on the switch, the Jack-o-lantarns fade to rainbow colores.

Stick the cover tag on the circuit card base. Tie a ribbon to the top of the tag.

I finished it!

When you turn on the switch, the Jack-o-lanterns fade to rainbow colors.
