How to make light up roller coaster card.

Hi, crafty friends!

This is Eiko and I make light up roller coaster card using Chibitronics and Stampin’ Up stamps and dies.

When you open the card and pull the pull tab, the stars flash and popcorn stand glows.

I will make the parts referring to the picture below.

  • Two black cardstock (4.25×5.5inch)
  • 5.5x11inch navy cardstock
  • Small white cardstock for die cut parts
  • White vellum paper
  • Silver deco sheet
  • Black cardstock for sentiment banner
  • Two pull tab parts (0.5x2inch)
  • Two switch parts (0.5×0.5inch)
  • Navy cardstock for pop-up part (0.5x2inch)
  • Yellow cardstock for flags

  • Stamp the coaster, present and popcorn stand and die cut.
  • Die cut yellow cardstock using the flag die.

  • Cut out the wall with a craft knife.
  • Put one popcorn stand part on the other part and mark the light with a pencil.
  • Mark the position of the Chibitronics.
  • Adhere vellum paper on the back of the popcorn stand.

  • Stamp the sentiment using Versamark.
  • Heat embossing with gold embossing powder.

  • Die cut navy cardstock using the roller coaster die.
  • Align the 13 mm from the bottom of the die with the center line of the card.
  • Die cut navy cardstock using the stars die.
  • Die cut silver deco sheet using the roller coaster die and cut along the line.
  • Adhere the silver coaster parts on the navy cardstock.

  • Fold along the score line.
  • Adhere vellum paper on the back of the navy cardstock.
  • Fold 1/2 inch width cardstock and make pop-up part.
  • Adhere the pop-up part on the lower right of the roller coaster.

  • Make a slit through the copper tape at the root of the pop-up part.

  • Put two black cardstock 2 mm apart with washi tape.
  • Put the navy cardstock on the black cardstock and mark the light with a pencil.
  • Draw three lines at 1/4 inch intervals from 1 1/2 inch from the bottom.
  • Draw a line of 1 inch length from the 3/8 inch from the right end of the center line.
  • Cut the slit with 1 mm width with a craft knife.
  • Mark the position of the Chibitronics and battery.
  • Draw the circuit with a pencil and adhere the copper tape on the drawing path.
  • At the position of the slit leave about 2 inch of copper tape and cut it.
  • At the position of the battery, peel off the release paper, adhere the negative side copper tape, turn it back and cut it.
  • Place the battery on the copper tape with the positive side up and adhere the positive side copper tape on the battery.
  • Attach a conductive fabric tape to the fold line of the card and reinforce it.
  • Adhere the Chibitronics and effect sticker on the mark.
  • Adhere copper tape on the Chibitronics to reinforce.

Make the switch part.

  • Fold square parts in half and insert the switch part into the slit.
  • Place the switch part on the right end of the slit and adhere the copper tape.
  • Pull the switch part out of the slit and adhere copper tape around it.
  • Insert the switch part into the slit and confirm that the LED turns on.

  • Put the double-sided tape on the switch part and adhere the pull tab parts from the front and back.
  • Adhere two pull tab parts together with thin foam tape.

  • Adhere the popcorn stand part on the pop-up part.
  • Put the foam tape on the lower half of the back side of the navy cardstock.
  • Put the double-sided tape on the upper half of the back side of the navy cardstock.
  • Pass the copper tape through the slit and adhere the navy cardstock on the black card base.
  • Adhere the copper tape on the popcorn stand.
  • Adhere the Chibitronics on the mark.
  • Adhere the flag parts on the insert.

  • Adhere another piece of popcorn stand.
  • Adhere the coaster parts and sentiment banner.

  • Stamp the sentiment and line onto the cover panel using Versamark and heat embossing with silver embossing powder.
  • Adhere the coasters and the popcorn stand.
  • Adhere the cover panel on the black card base.

I finished it!

When you open the card and pull the pull tab, the stars flash and popcorn stand glows.
