How to make light up yellow submarine card.

Hi, crafty friends!

This is Eiko and I make light up yellow submarine card using Chibitronics and Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.

When you lift the flap, the windows glow.

I will make the parts referring to the picture below.

  • Moonstone cardstock (4.25x11inch)
  • Die cut moonstone cardstock using the large flap die.
  • 4.25×5.5inch white cardstock for circuit
  • 4.25inch square pattern paper
  • Die cut moonstone cardstock using the large flap die and cut 1/4 inch from the score line.
  • Die cut pattern paper using the large flap die and wave borders die.
  • Die cut silver foil paper and foam sheet using large porthole frame die.
  • White vellum paper
  • Die cut black cardstock using label die. Stamp the sentiment and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  • Two pull tab parts (0.5×2.5inch)
  • Three switch parts (0.5×0.5inch)

  • Stamp the submarine, diver, angler fish and lobster onto white cardstock.
  • Color them with Copic markers and cut out the windows of the submarine with a craft knife.
  • Die cut them using the coordinating die.

  • Draw a line 1/4 inch from the score line of the flap.
  • Adhere the cardstock pull tab part on the acetate pull tab part.
  • Fold at 1/2 inch from the edge of the pull tab and adhere it 3/8 inch from the left end on the flap.
  • Put the cover panel on white card base and mark the outline of the flap with a pencil.
  • Close the flap and mark the tip of the pull tab part with a pencil. (line A)
  • Open the flap and trace the outline of the pull tab part with a pencil. (line B)
  • Draw a line 1/2 inch from the tip of the pull tab when opening the flap. (line C)
  • Draw a center line on the outline of the pull tab.

  • Put the cover panel on pattern paper and mark the pull tab with a pencil.
  • Put the submarine part on pattern paper and mark the windows with a pencil.

  • Cut out the windows of the submarine and the slit for the pull tab part with a craft knife.
  • Put the pattern paper on white card base and mark the windows with a pencil.

  • Between line A and C, make a 1mm wide slit with a craft knife.
  • Mark the position of the Chibitronics and the battery.
  • Draw the circuit with a pencil.
  • The negative side circuit crosses the upper end of the slit.
  • Put the double-sided tape on the position of the battery.
  • Adhere the copper tape on the drawing path.
  • At the position of the battery, peel off the release paper, adhere the negative side copper tape, turn it back and cut it.
  • At the position of the battery leave about 1 inch of positive side copper tape and cut it.
  • Place the battery on the copper tape with the positive side up and adhere the positive side copper tape on the battery.
  • Adhere the orange Chibitronics on the mark and adhere copper tape on the Chibitronics to reinforce.

Make the switch part.

  • Fold square parts in half and insert the switch part into the slit.
  • Place the switch part on the upper end of the slit and adhere the copper tape.
  • Insert the switch part into the slit and confirm that the LED turns on.

Make the cover panel.

  • Adhere the wave, angler fish and lobster parts on the flap.
  • Adhere the porthole frame and the sentiment label on the cover panel.

  • Adhere the submarine and the diver parts on the pattern paper.
  • Adhere vellum paper on the back of the windows.
  • Pass the pull tab part through the slit and adhere the pattern paper on the back of the cover panel.
  • Adhere another flap part inside the flap.

  • Adhere the porthole foam frame on the card base.
  • Put the foam tape around the card base and on both sides of the pull tab part.
  • Put the double-sided tape on the switch part.

  • Place the switch part at the bottom end of the slit, peel off the release paper of double-sided tape on the switch part.
  • Place and adhere the cover panel on the card base.

  • Put the double-sided tape on the back of the cover panel.
  • Adhere the cover panel on the folded moonstone cardstock.

I finished it!

When you lift the flap, the windows glow.
