Light Up Campfire

Hi Everyone! My name is Tiffany and I am on the Chibitronics blog with a campfire card that lights up and toast my marshmallows. Since its been a cold start to spring in the Northeast I wanted to create a card to remind me summer will soon be here.

My card features a slider pull tab that activate the Chibitronics light sticker and also change the color of the marshmallows to a toasty tan color. A break was added to the negative path of the circuit and the path only gets connected by a piece of copper tape resting on the back of the slider tab. Here are the steps for my card:

I first assemble all the pieces for my card: (1) Took a A2 sized card stock and used Distressed Oxide Inks to blend in my background and stamp my elements from the Lawn Fawn ‘Love You S’More’ set and cut out the fire and the marshmallow out using my penknife; (2) Trace my cutouts onto my card base; (3) Cut out two strip of tan card stocks 1 inch wide and stamp the smore image in light grey ink to create a patterned paper; and (4) Cut out 2 piece of vellum paper to cover the marshmallow and fire cutout and color the fire with copic markers.

To create my the circuit and my slider tab I first took my card base and used a circle die to cut out my battery slot and then pencil in my copper tape path and where my LED sticker will go. Since the battery will be placed within my circle cutout, both side of the circuit path will start from there. I next cut out a strip of card stock 1.5 inches wide for my slider tab. I marked where the marshmallow cutouts will be in the tab so I can create an ombre tan for the color change and also added a slot to keep the tap in place.

Next, I mark the copper tape position on my slider tab so I know where to position my circuit connector. Line ‘1’ is where the copper tape is when the card tab is not pulled and Line ‘3’ is where the copper tape is when the tab is pulled out. I added a line in the middle (2) and that is where my copper tape will start on my tab.

Next I added a double layer of foam tape onto the back of my slider tab and added strip of copper tape to it. Added my copper tape to my path with a tiny break for my negative side and added a white LED light where my campfire is. To make sure my battery stays in place and still give me the opportunity to change the battery I have used post it tape to hold the battery into place. My first piece of tape covers the inside of the card with the sticky side facing out and my second piece will go over the positive side of my battery.

Next I glue my vellum piece to my front panel (via the back) and added double layers of foam tape around my card base.

Put my slider tab into place and release all my backing from my foam tape and carefully tape my front panel on top.
