Make and Take for beginners at Creativation 2019

Hi, crafty friends!

This is Eiko and I make light up this card using Chibitronics and Pinkfresh Studio stamps and dies.

When you push the banner, the heart lights up.

I will make the parts referring to the picture below.

  • 4.25 x 11 inches light blue cardstock.
  • 3.75 x 5 inches white cardstock for the circuit.
  • 3.75 x 5 inches white cardstock. Stamp the background using ombre ink.
  • White vellum paper.
  • 0.875 x 1.75 inches white cardstock for the switch.
  • Stamp the bear onto white cardstock, color it with Copic markers and die cut.
  • Stamp the sentiment onto blue banner and heat emboss with white embossing powder.

Make the cover panel.

  • Cut out the heart with a craft knife.
  • Stick the vellum paper on the back of the heart.
  • Stick the bear part with foam tape.
  • Stick the banner on the cover panel and stamp the sentiment on the banner.

Make the circuit.

  • Put the cover panel on white cardstock and mark the light and switch with a pencil.
  • Mark the position of the Chibitronics.
  • Fold 0.875 x 1.75 inches rectangular part in half and put it on the position of the switch.
  • Draw the circuit with a pencil.
  • The “+” side of the LED needs to connect to the “+” side of the battery.
  • The “-” side of the LED needs to connect to the “-” side of the battery.

  • Stick the copper tape on the pre-drawn path.
  • At the corner, fold tape back, exposing the sticky side. Flip and turn the tape, to form a corner.
  • Then stick the copper tape to the inside of the switch.

The inside of the switch is like this.

Attach the LED to the copper tape, over the outline. Press down on the LED, and make sure the copper tape is smooth with a bone folder.

Stick short copper tape on the edges of the LED to reinforce. Place the battery in the switch with the positive side up.

Stick small pieces of double-sided foam tape around the switch to keep the battery in place.

Stick the foam tape around the entire edge of the card.

Stick the cover panel to the card base.

Stick the cover panel on the folded light blue cardstock with double-sided tape.

I finished it!

When you push the banner, the heart lights up.

Thank you for stopping by!
