Hi! Kathy Ceceri here, author of Paper Inventions (2nd Edition). Today Iām going to show you how to make a Pixel Beating Heart pop-up card using Chibitronics Animating Red Fade LED stickers. It’s perfect for Valentine’s Day or any occasion!

I designed the heart with pen on graph paper, scanned it into a simple graphics program, and uploaded the image to Chibitronics Circuit Sketcher CAD design program, where I added the circuit.

Because of the unique pop-up pixel design, it took a few tries to place the red fade LED where it could be seen even as it got dimmer. Once everything looked good, I exported the file as a PDF template. Both layers of the card — the cutting template and the circuit template — are shown on the printable page below. (The cutting guide is a little hard to see in the image, but fine when it’s printed out.)
