World CardMaking Day Blog Hop with Honeybee Stamps

Good morning and Happy World CardMaking Day!!  Today the Chibitronics design team is excited to be collaborating and hopping along with the Honeybee Stamps design team and sharing projects using Chibitronics LED lights along with Honeybee stamps and dies!  And what’s a hop without a giveaway?!  We’ll be giving away a Chibitronics starter kit and Honeybee Stamps is giving away a $25 gift card so hop along us and be prepared for lots of inspiration!  The full hop list is included at the bottom of this post!  Here’s what I created for the hop!

Swimming By to Say Hi by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Chibitronics

I love the little jellyfish in the Zen Ocean set and thought I’d try to create a deep underwater scene with a little bioluminescene (my AP bio teacher would be so proud of me for remembering that term)! 😉

Swimming By to Say Hi by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Chibitronics

I started by blending salty ocean, broken china, chipped sapphire, seedless preserves, and black soot distress ink onto a panel of white cardstock to create an underwater scene.  Once the distress ink covered the entire panel I splattered it with water and white acrylic paint to create bubbles.  I also spritzed it with shimmer spray to really give the panel some sparkle!  I let that dry completely and then I die-cut the jellyfish from the panel three times.  I also die-cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die to create a nice frame for the card.

Next I placed a piece of vellum behind the distress inked panel and stamped the jellyfish onto the vellum and heat-embossed them with silver sparkle embossing powder.  I added two more layers of vellum behind the embossed vellum so that the mechanics of the LED stickers would not be visible behind the vellum.  Next I created my circuit panel on a piece of cardstock and built a frame around it using a double layer of foam mounting tape.  Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of my circuit before I sealed up the card.

Finally I stamped the sentiment from Swimming by and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder.  Then I die-cut part of the sentiment with the coordinating die and trimmed the rest of the sentiment down to a label.  I adhered the sentiment to the card and then added a sprinkling of iridescent clear and sparkling clear sequins to the card to create more dimensional ‘bubbles!’

And now it’s time to start the hop!  There’s a $25 gift certificate to Honeybee Stamps and a starter kit from Chibitronics up for grabs! 😉

Honeybee Stamps is your next stop on the hop and you if you get lost along the way you can find the full hop list below!

Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous day!  I hope you’re able to spend World Cardmaking Day getting good and inky! 😉

  12. Hi, I would love to be a winner for the Chibitronicsm starter kit with instruction book and or the $25.00 gift card from Honey Bee. I’ve been wanting to learn and make light up cards. Trying to save up the money to get the kit but it’s hard because I’m on Social Security Disability and my income is low. Maybe with some luck I’ll win something. Thanks Jeanne
